TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Tampa police officers have suspended the search for a man who jumped into the Hillsborough River from the Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. Bridge on Friday night.
According to police, the incident happened just before 9 p.m. Divers from the Tampa police department then responded to the scene to lead the search for the man.
Early Saturday morning, police identified the man as 34-year-old Keenan Akeem Fluker. They say a current photo of him is not available.
As of 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, police had suspended the search for Fluker for the night. Officers say the search will resume later in the morning.

05.01.14: Tampa PD officers rescue man trying to jump from Martin Luther King Jr. bridge

05.01.14, wfla.com, TAMPA, FL., Tampa Police rescued a man who was allegedly attempting to jump off the Martin Luther King Jr. bridge at the Hillsborough River, and the entire incident was caught on camera.
Upon arrival, responding officers observed the victim standing on a ledge of the bridge about to jump into the water.
One of the officers was able to start communicating with the victim to keep him talking and calm as other officers arrived on-scene.
TPD says they continued talking with victim as he allegedly contemplated jumping from the bridge, however the victim still would not climb down.
As the officers continued to talk with him, Officer Wyche saw an opportunity and was able to grasp victim and secure against the side of the bridge.
In a collective effort, four officers were able to lift victim over the edge of the bridge to safety.
