Weird Wild Web: Might As Well Jump

I know I used that headline sometime before, but this time I really mean it.

As a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, I sometimes feel like I live in a wonderful, magical Land of Bridges. Okay, maybe that was laying it on a little thick, but we DO have seven, count 'em, SEVEN bridges around here, including the world-famous, perpetually tourist-encrusted Golden Gate.

Now, we're no Thames River, but that's quite a few bridges if you ask me. And when you think of bridges, among the many things which may leap (so to speak) into your mind are the occasional highly publicized reports of people jumping to their grisly deaths into the waters/rocks/swiftly moving traffic below. And if you've ever had the misfortune to be actually CROSSING the bridge while police were trying to talk a jumper out of that leap into the void, well, you know how much fun that is. Goodbye, punctuality.

Although suicide is not particularly funny, unless you're talking about Monty Python's Kamikaze Highlanders, today's Weird Wild Website aims to lighten up the mood a little, poor taste be damned. The "guess the date of the next skyway bridge jumper" pool allows YOU, the casual internet visitor, to peripherally participate in a morbid wager about the date, time, sex, and fate of the next jumper off this West Florida bridge.

You may find this funny. You may find this extremely UNfunny. Visitors have written in to express both of these sentiments, and you can read their comments (as well as guesses) on this site. Since I'm unusually apathetic this morning, I don't have much of an opinion either way, so you'll have to decide for yourself. Ha ha, made you think.

Jump around, jump around, jump up jump up and get down.
